THAT WAS FUNTerrell
BACKGROUND Thinking back on your childhood and adolescence, can you remember a teacher teaching something that was particularly interesting and memorable to you? What was being taught? How was the teacher teaching it? Why do you think it was such an effective learning experience for you? After twelve years, I still remember learning about the California Gold Rush in 4th grade. It was one of the most memorable school/learning experiences that I have ever had. For five weeks, our classroom was turned into the gold rich mines of California. some of the students were in families that struck it rich, while others faced poverty and returned to their hometowns our of desperation. Each of us was able to internalize the feelings that the families were feeling. I learned so much by acting out the various details of the Gold Rush. It was much more memorable than if the teacher would have lectured us or made us read the history out of a book. I look forward to giving my future students fun and exciting learning experiences like this one was for me! Home | Power of Teaching | Believing is Seeing | Truth or Consequences | That Was Fun |
