I remember in High school I was thought less of our doubted because I was a Latino determined to go to a University. I clearly remember my counselor stating. "Are you sure you want to go to a University? I think you will do better in a Junior College". In fact my counselor didn’t even talk to me about what I needed to do in order to get accepted into College. I had a 3.6 grade point average and not once did he discuss the SAT test or classes I should be taking. I was stuck in wood shop instead of A.P. classes. And it's ironic because most of the people in this class with me were also Latino males.
