Growing up as a Mexican student in America was hard. I took kindergarten twice because they felt that I didn't have the basics down. So I was sent to ESL where I spent most of my time. I didn't have many friends except those that were also in ESL, but I was happy to be among other that understood me.


..... I felt special on my graduation day when I graduated 6th highest GPA in my high school.

My English teacher played a big role in my experience. She motivated everyone in the classroom to strive to do their best. I remember the poster above the chalkboard. It said, "There is a method in my madness." and it made sense. She would assign very difficult assignments in the first part of the semester. But, in the second semester, she told us that she wanted the cream of the crop in her class.
