..... I felt very belittled in my ninth grade English class. I did horrible on a writing assignment and my teacher told me, "Do you want to be categorized as a dumb Mexican for the rest of your life!" I didn't go to class the next day. For the rest of the school year I didn't bother asking any questions about my work because I got scared of her.

She should not have criticized me that way in front of the whole class.
