Small Parrots

mitred conure
This is a Mitred Conure. They are Central and South American birds.
They have a very loud call. They can learn to talk, are very playful, and make wonderful pets.
There are several flocks of feral (or wild) conures in the San Diego area.

This elegant green bird is an Indian Ringneck Parakeet.
There are several feral flocks of these in the San Diego area, too.

greycheeks

This is a Boston fern full of baby Greycheek Parakeets (Brotogeris Pyrrhopterus). They bathe in the wet leaves and look dreadful until they dry off. I have raised these delightful little birds in the past, and hope to have more in the future. They are originally from Peru and Colombia, but these countries don't export any more, and we don't allow importation, so domestically bred birds are the only ones legally available for sale in this country.

African Grey
Birds like this African Grey are among the best talkers in the parrot world. They are very intelligent, and seem to use language appropriate
to situations they find themselves in.  It is quite a treat to get to know one.
