Introducing Susie Kidder
(and husband Dave)

Dave & Susie
I have been working for the SDSU Foundation in Counseling and School Psychology since 1991, and for SDSU since 1987. Right now I mainly assist Dr. Valerie Cook-Morales, the Director of the School Psychology Program, to integrate federally funded projects into the Program, and facilitate the progress of the School Psychology Trainees through the program and into the working world.

Background

I grew up a Navy brat, moving around the country every 2-3 years. Always wanted to be a teacher, but had a roadblock thrown in my way with one semester to go at SDSU. I decided to concentrate on family, then joined the workplace messing with computers way back when they were the size of refrigerators (good old UNIVAC). In 1978 I decided to finish my bachelor's degree and earn my teaching credential. Taught for two years, until massive layoffs occurred. Went back to computers, and have been administrative support ever since.

Activities/Interests/Plans

I am an avid computer "user junkie;" I also love animals, particularly horses and exotic birds. Because horses are so darned expensive to play with in Southern California, I turned to exotic birds, and presently breed and raise cockatiels and other small parrots, tiny doves and quail, and finches. I have no special plans for the future except to travel a little bit and bug the kids.

Other Interesting (?) Things

We have three children. My oldest daughter is a home health care nurse in San Diego, my middle daughter is in Kentucky working for a thoroughbred horse breeding farm, and my son works for Ericsson here in San Diego. I also have a challenging grandson, Jesse Edwin DeWitt Duncan.
Jesse

My husband has occupied himself in a variety of ways over the years. After being "high tech" for a long time, he fell into doing repair work on some really neat antiques and has been restoring and refinishing fine antiques and other furniture ever since. You ought to see some of the things he works on -- everything from an awesome Elizebethan four-poster bed to some of the most awful art deco lumps of wood you have ever seen! Because he can set his own hours, he has chosen to be the chief cook around the Kidder household - I love coming home to a hot dinner and a fire in the fireplace on a cool damp November!

The late, great SECRETARIAT!
Some of my favorite spots to visit on the internet are Denali Stud (the breeding farm my daughter Sherrie works for), The Aviary, and The Grey-Cheeked Parakeet (one of my favorite small parrots).
