NORTH COUNTY
TEACHER PREPARATION PROGRAM
formerly known as the
MIRA MESA PROGRAM
Team Leader: Carol Prime
The North County Teacher
Preparation Program offers student teachers the opportunity to become effective
teachers striving for excellence in applying the California Standards for the
Teaching Profession. The North County Program offers a rich environment with
quality master teachers, a diversity of children, and daily application of
literacy and English Language Development strategies.
Your time commitment to the program will be 7:20 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday
through Friday and Monday evenings (for an on-campus EDTEC 470 Technology course) during
the first semester and one evening (of each student's choice for an on-campus
PLC 915A English Language Development course) during the second semester.
 |
During eight weeks of each semester, you will take
university classes from 9:00 to 4:00 every day, except one day a week when you will
observe and assist your master teacher. On Monday evenings of the first
semester, you will take the
on-campus technology course (EDTEC 470). During the second semester, you will
need to complete PLC 915A one evening per week on campus.
|
 |
During the remaining weeks of each semester, you will
student teach full time (7:20-4:00), attend an occasional university seminar,
and complete the one-evening-per-week EDTEC 470 or PLC 915A.
