Donations Needed!

Please support the Literacy Center's exciting and important work with students, teachers, and the community! Your donations allow us to provide scholarships to families, for example, who cannot afford literacy assessment or tutoring for their children. These children are at risk of failing to learn to read and write. A donation of $500.00 provides at least 24 hours of effective, professional literacy tutoring for a child who may be reading four or more years below grade level.

“My experience with the Clinic has been one that has reinforced my determination to work with urban students. The support of the staff at the Clinic prepared the reading specialists by providing ample training as well as valuable feedback on our interactions and instructional implementation. Especially in the urban setting of San Diego, students need a safe harbor in which to thrive. The Clinic provides a place for our children to develop positive self worth as well as improvement in literacy skills. It also provides future reading specialists with a place to hone their skills and make personal connections with students.”
