Browser Updates and Plug-Ins

Some features of the course website may not work properly with older browsers.

For online discussion and some assignments, we will use video/audio plug-ins that require sound capabilities.

Macromedia Flash Player 6

For real time course communications using the new Flash MX Communications Server)

Real Player 8 Basic (for course webcasts)

If you are unable or unwilling to install Real Player your home computer, you will not be able to participate in live webcasts, and you may need to view archived editions of the webcasts in the IML.

QuickTime™ (selected course modules)

If you are unable or unwilling to install QuickTime on your home computer, you will not be able to view/hear portions of some on-line modules and will need to access them in the IML.

APA Style

APA Style Cribsheet (APA 5th edition is now available at the bookstore. This cribsheet needs to be updated. The instructor will provide you with some details of the APA new style. Hopefully, there are not many changes).

Software

This course is designated in the SDSU course catalog as a combination lecture-lab. Most of the lab activities are unscheduled (you pick the times) and can be completed through this website.  You should be able to use or access the tools listed here from computers in the College of Education IML.  

Most of the activities can be completed at home providing that you have an appropriately equipped computer connected to the internet. You will need to install the appropriate versions of the following software applications, browsers, and plug-ins.

Productivity Applications

Microsoft Office 98, or 2000, or 2001.  Must include Word and PowerPoint.  You can purchase this software very low cost through Aztec Shops or use it in the IML.

Compression Software

You will need Aladdin Systems Expander or Winzip to decompress some Stuffit (.sit) or (.zip) files used in this course.  Demo versions of this software are free.
