SDSU/SDUSD Aspiring Administrators Program
The SDSU/SDUSD Aspiring Administrators Program is a collaborative partnership specifically tailored to the needs of San Diego Unified School District.
Students in this program participate in a cohort composed of only teachers and credentialed employees of SDUSD. Through joint planning and support from the district, students in this cohort are offered additional value-added components and customized experiences.
SDUSD offers students in this program 6 days of release time to participate in Professional Development for Aspiring Leaders.
Students are assigned coaches from SDUSD, who are experienced, successful principals in the district. Coaches act as mentors to a small group of students. They help plan professional development opportunities and engage with students during the professional development days as instructors and colleagues.
At the completion of this program, candidates will be given a first opportunity to interview for administrative openings in the district.
Students engage in:
- Shadowing
- Field experiences
- Professional development days
- Mentoring
As a result, students gain a broad understanding of district mission, goals, and initiatives, as well as a wide network of professional contacts within the district and community.
