Tools for Standardized Testing
GENERIC TOOLS: Tools that apply to the use of any individualized standardized test and are used in a variety of courses.
- Basics in Standardized Test Administration (pdf) is a list of standard practices used with all standardized tests and provides a workshop to practice calculation of chronological age.
- Two checklists are available to evaluate your basic testing skills: One from review of protocols and worksheets (pdf), the other from observation (pdf) of testing. These can be used to review your practice and proficiency packages before submitting them for a grade, and may be used for grading your testing skills.
- Developing your proficiency with tests requires a great deal of practice with volunteer non-referred students who are doing well in school (i.e., not at risk of referral for special education). This Volunteer Form (word), in English and Spanish, is to be used to obtain parental permission to work with the volunteer student.
- This Test Score Conversion Chart (pdf – legal) allows conversion of standard scores to percentiles and descriptors to enable consistent terminology across tests.
- This Graph and Pattern Analysis Worksheet (word) can be used to portray and analyze performance on any standardized test that yields standard scores. We have developed worksheets specific to the tests taught in the program (see below).
- The Test Proficiency Rubric (pdf) is used to evaluate and document your administrative, scoring, and interpretation proficiencies with standardized tests.
