Juniors
It’s not too
late to get on-track! Talk to your counselor about taking AP
classes and preparing for fall and spring testing during your
junior year.
11th
Grade Compact Assemblies
During the
spring of your 11th grade year, you will be invited
to an assembly if you are on-track to celebrate your
accomplishments! A raffle will be held and you can win prizes
for showing up. You will also get more information on the
critical benchmarks that occur during 11th grade. A letter will
be sent to you and your parents—your family is welcome to
attend.
Compact
Parent Meetings
For working
parents and those who could not attend their school’s 11th
Grade Compact Assembly (above), evening parent meetings are
scheduled to provide parents with a comprehensive review of
requirements, college application deadlines and financial aid.

Testing
FALL
Important!! Take the PSAT!
The
Preliminary SAT®/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test is a
co-sponsored program by the
College Board and National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC).
PSAT/NMSQT
stands for Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying
Test. It's a standardized test that provides firsthand practice
for the SAT Reasoning Test™. It also gives you a chance to enter
National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) scholarship
programs.
The PSAT/NMSQT
measures:
·
critical
reading skills
·
math
problem-solving skills
·
writing
skills
You have developed these skills over many years, both in and out of
school. This test doesn't require you to recall specific facts
from your classes.
While this is
not a Compact requirement, there are many reasons to take the
PSAT/NMSQT:
Feedback for the SAT. If the PSAT shows that you need help with
vocabulary, you’ll know that you can study that before taking
the SAT. You can become familiar with the kinds of questions and
the exact directions you will see on the SAT.
To enter the competition for scholarships from the National
Merit Scholarship Corporation (grade 11).
To receive information from colleges when you check "yes" to
Student Search Service.
This information was collected from

SPRING
CST
(California Standards Test)
Juniors will
take the Augmented CST (California
Standards Test). This is a state-wide test that makes sure
that students have learned all of the content and concepts
detailed in the California State Board of Education’s Content
Standards (http://www.cde.ca.gov/ta/tg/sr/blueprints.asp).
The test has
been augmented to include a portion that tests college-level
writing and mathematics. Passing this test will count at
passing the EPT (English Placement Test) and ELM (Entry-Level
Mathematics) and will satisfy this benchmark.
SAT/ACT Exams
SAT/ACT Exams
are also held during the spring. No minimum score is required
for Compact students planning to attend SDSU; however, your
scores will need to be sent to SDSU and any other university to
which you apply. Ask your counselor for any preparation advice,
materials and classes.
Applying to
SDSU
Applying to
SDSU and any other CSU campus can be done easily and
simultaneously through
www.csumentor.edu. You probably already set up an account
at last year’s 10th Grade Visit or with a counselor
sometime in 9th or 10th grade. If not,
you can start it today—right now! It’s free to open an account
and all you need is an email address and a current transcript. |
