The 7th
Grade Campus Visit has been rescheduled to
Saturday,
April 26, 2008.
Welcome to the 8th Annual
Compact for Success Campus Visit to SDSU! This web site is
designed to give you information about this fun and exciting morning
at SDSU that welcomes 7th graders and their parents from the
Sweetwater Union High School District to the Compact for Success and
gives SDSU the chance to showcase excellence in academics and
student involvement.
Note: All participants in this year's campus visit will
receive 10% that day on SDSU Clothing and Gifts in the SDSU
Bookstore! This applies to students, parents, District staff,
Info Fair participants and the Compact Event Team!
We would like to
welcome you to SDSU! Please come prepared with spirit,
questions and comfortable walking shoes! Your school will provide you with
details on bus departure times, permission slips, etc.
¨
Wear your Compact for Success t-shirt
¨
All students
must be accompanied by an adult
¨
Be punctual! Report to your school site by 7:15 a.m.
Upon arriving, you will walk from
the bus to
Cox Arena, where
you will be celebrated for being a part of the Compact. Then
you will be led to an info fair, where you will have the opportunity
to take a tour and visit the bookstore.
This year we have incorporated a series of workshops that
parents and students can attend. The list of workshops and
a brief description is provided on the students permission slip.
At
12:00pm, schools will
begin walking to the buses and will begin leaving SDSU
at 12:15pm.
Please contact your child's school regarding sign-ups and
permission slips.
Principals and
District Staff
We hope you enjoy
your visit with your school to SDSU! We thank you
in advance for communicating to your students and their
parents the importance of returning to the area of the
info fair at 12:00pm. Please let
Lou Murillo or
Mayra Gutierrez know if
you have any questions or concerns prior to the event.
The following links
will connect you to a description of the day's events
and routes. SDSU staff and Community Service
Officers will be on hand to supervise all visitors' walk
to and from the buses.
Final
numbers must be turned into to Liz Hernandez on Monday,
April 21.
Academic
Departments and Student Organizations
Your willingness to
come out on a Saturday and showcase your organization or
department for future Aztecs and their parents is the
cornerstone of the day. Thank you very much for

Please arrive no later than
9:45 am at Campanile
Walkway (in front of Hepner Hall) to set up your table
or exhibit. You will have one six foot table with
two chairs and a tablecloth to work with unless you have
contacted us to make other arrangements.
A $50 stipend
is available to all current SDSU student organizations
that participate! This money can go toward
reimbursement for supplies and promotional materials
used on the day of the event.
Reimbursement is
dependent upon several things:
**One of the
first 20 organizations to sign up
**On-time
arrival and participating until the event ends
**Prompt
submission of an invoice (you will receive a template
via email if you need one)
**Status as
a current SDSU club with a BANK ACCOUNT and FEDERAL TAX
ID NUMBER (you will need to provide proof two weeks
prior to the event in order to receive a stipend--ask
your club's advisor for help, if necessary)
If you are not
eligible for reimbursement this year, you are still
warmly invited to participate. It is a great
chance to showcase your organization, meet future
Aztecs, reach out to young members of the community and
enjoy a fun, high-energy day!
To see if your
organization is recognized as a campus organization and
has renewed its status, please visit
csi.sdsu.edu/clubs/list.html.
If (and only if)
your club has never received payment from SDSU, you will
need to fill out a Payment Data Record form (click
here) and return it to Procurement in AD
116 prior to the event so they can pay you. If you
have questions about the taxpayer ID number of your
organization, please ask your advisor or department.
More info can be found in the
Student Organization Handbook
online.
Please contact
Alex Nuñez with any questions about the event.
He can be reached at (619) 594-3316.
The doors to Cox Arena are open to arriving students and parents
beginning at 8:30 a.m. They will be welcomed by live
entertainment and videos. Once all buses have arrived and
guests are seated, the general program will start at 9:00 a.m.
SDSU Compact for Success Director Lou Murillo, SDSU President
Stephen Weber and Sweetwater Superintendent Jesus Gandara will
address students and parents. Visitors will exit Cox Arena
at around 10:00 a.m. to lead them to
an information fair, workshops and lunch.
For more information, please contact Lou Murillo at
lmurillo@mail.sdu.edu or
(619) 594-0732.
The Compact
for Success is a partnership between the Sweetwater District and
SDSU. The Campus Visit brings 7th graders and a parent to
campus for a welcoming ceremony in Cox Arena, an info fair,
entertainment and an optional campus tour. Your primary
role on April 26th is to
give a warm welcome to all campus visitors and represent SDSU!
We appreciate that you are giving your time on a Saturday to help
and are sure that it will be worth it.
THANK YOU TO ALL
PARTICIPANTS, VISITORS AND CONTRIBUTORS!
