San Ysidro High School Officially Welcomed Into the Compact

On January 20, 2005, San Ysidro High School students gathered in gym for assembly to officially welcome them to the Compact for Success. After greetings from ASB President Shay Bautista and Principal Hector Espinoza, Superintendent Ed Brand and SDSU President Stephen Weber addressed the crowd. Dr. Brand and Dr. Weber signed the official Compact.

Representative Bob Filner, who recently arranged for the Sweetwater Union High School District to be awarded with $540,000 from the House Appropriations Bill, addressed the student body and encouraged them to pursue a college degree.

Students hold signs to show the amount of money awarded to the district by the House of Representatives. Representative Bob Filner addresses the students of San Ysidro High School San Ysidro Cougars cake at the VIP Reception following the event. Dr. Weber, Hector Espinosa and Dr. Brand cut the cake.
