Congratulations Homecoming Queen Julie-Anne Brou and Homecoming Court Malia Green!

Julie Anne Brou was nominated to the 2011 Homecoming Court by the Child and Family Development Student Organization (CFDSO), of which she has been the president for two years. With the help of last years Vice President, Marlene Fuentes, they worked together to bring the CFDSO to where it is today. Some of the events the CFDSO created or participated in include Hope In The Park, Toys for Tots, NAK Land Fair, Jenny's Walk, and Halloween and Valentine's Day parties for the children of Becky's House. The service project Julie Anne will be putting together for next spring is a Dating and Family Violence Awareness and Prevention Fair on campus.

Malia Green was nominated to the 2011 Homecoming Court by the Student Veterans Organization. Malia is on the War Memorial Committee, where she represents the San Diego State student veteran population. Most recently, she organized and carried out the 2nd Annual Silent Vigil, which honored 225 fallen Aztecs since World War II. In the CFDSO, Malia is the College of Education Student Council Representative, where she is the liaison between the CFDSO and all other student organizations in the College of Education.

Are you a student volunteer?

You may be eligible for the Walter Koppelman Memorial Scholarship for undergraduate student volunteers to be awarded by the California Faculty Association at San Diego State University. Scholarships in the amount of $750 each may be awarded to two SDSU undergraduate students to be used for Spring 2012 to purchase books or pay SDSU student tuition and fees.

Application are available from the California Faculty Association Office, ED 106, San Diego State University, (619) 594-2775, cfa@mail.sdsu.edu. The deadline for submission of applications and supporting materials is November 17, 2011.
