The Department of Child and Family Development is a highly integrated academic unit within the College of Education. The Department offers a B.S. in Child Development in Applied Arts and Sciences and a Master of Science degree in Child Development.

APA Tutorial & Quiz information

Students in the Child and Family Development Department are required to be familiar with the  research process and APA writing style.  Students entering the upper division course work must successfully complete the APA tutorial and APA Quiz with 100% in order to enroll in these courses.   Students will be required by their faculty to show proof of successful completion.

The APA tutorial is published by the American Psychological Association and is one of the primary support documents for the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (6th edition).  It contains information on the basic rules of APA writing style as well as the format and structure of research papers.  The link to the tutorial is provided below.  After the completion of the APA tutorial students will be able to:

Tutorial

The APA tutorial will take approximately one hour to complete.  There are multiple sections in the tutorial.  Some of the sections include samples papers and examples and of the content presented.  The quiz has 30 questions and will include concepts from both the main pages and the sample pages of the tutorial.  Students will need to be familiar with the information provided in all sections. 

The tutorial requires that you have Adobe Flash Player and Adobe Reader installed on your computer.

Quiz

The APA Quiz is available in the Blackboard course titled CHILD AND FAMILY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT ADVISING 2010/2011. Click on the APA Tutorial link on the course menu.
